In December 2022 we launched a CROWDFUNDER to raise £50,000 Barn Croft Primary School, Waltham Forest to be able to be able to majority own the solar panels installed and managed by Solar for Schools. This will enable then to budget into the future with ongoing savings.
We made a bid for Christmas number 1 with the whole school singing ‘You’re the Voice’ to raise the profile of their campaign to fight cuts and become a resilient solar power station. We reached the dizzy heights of 21 in the itunes charts and number 3 in the Christmas Itunes charts and then disappeared! but we’re still here. The crowdfunder reached its target and and the school is now a POWER STATION!
BARN CROFT PRIMARY SCHOOL IS NOW A POWER STATION! SOLAR FOR SCHOOLS INSTALLED THE SOLAR PANELS NOVEMBER 2023! FINALLY! PEOPLE POWER. SUN POWER.

SCHOOLS
This project is intensely, expansively collaborative and to grow this distributed POWER STATION we are working with Solar for Schools and Energy Local. With agreement from the Borough of Waltham Forest the first 5 Waltham Forest schools have had their structural surveys in January 2022 and solar installations happened in winter 2023/2024.
Schools become local power stations quite literally able to power their neighbourhoods and share power and education in different ways through associated learning programmes and workshops. Watch our YouTube episode on progress so far and join the POWER membership site for a workshop with Solar for Schools on how to get your school solar. Now that dates are firming up we’re excited to work with each school - more soon!
