The compost we distributed last year has left its mark on my hand, where the nerves reach the sinews and the old surgical stitch marks throb. Then, we just kept moving. Kept committed not knowing where it would lead.

This is a time of blossoming. And visits. We’re getting into a rhythm as we share learning from the POWER STATION both online and in the space. Part of that learning is building networks of mutual support, education and care …

‘The Street Matters’ are going home. But not before a walk. We want to explore the boundaries and extensions, history and connections of this street that was once marshland – to consider its past and future. Manor, farm, railway lands, marsh.

We pop up to the bakers at the end of the street - previously a fish and chip shop and before that I can’t remember. Fresh pastries and sunshine to start a day. There is much room for improvement but it’s so good to be able to offer welcome at the POWER HOUSE.

We have Welsh visitors. I’ve been wanting this to happen since visiting Swansea in Spring 2023 to meet and find out more about the project ‘The Street Matters’. At that time it was good to have a moment of time and space away from this North East London street and the intensity of the project.

Quieter today. Walking into the space I feel the concentration. The team are editing upstairs and have a new trainee being trained up by a former trainee. That is good. Knowing what the next few days hold, I have a precious morning in the studio…

Hailstones beat down on street and car rooftops. Weather that might once have been called ‘unseasonable’ is now commonplace. On local gardening forums people report losing the last of their palms to a cold wet winter in the same sentence as preparing planting schemes for dryer zones. Extreme is the word.

The ultra-green of the lime tree park parade still stuns. An early dog walk is deserving of Hollywood tracking shots and that’s what we’re continuing to do.
